Most of the experiments I run are on myself. I have agreed to post them to this forum even though they may reveal some very embarrassing things about me...in hopes they will help other people. Most of these experiments result in the adjustment of my behavior in terms of how I interact with other people and myself.
This is one I wrote in 2001 when I started my counter-racism journey.
Observed Phenomenon:
I've noticed that I feel more comfortable when I interact with white people and I'm smiling and joking with them versus when I use my poker face (not smiling and joking) and talking with white people.
Hypothesis:
I suspect this is the result of the SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism). What I suspect is taking place is that I am so niggerized that I feel better when people like me. If I am a person who is a victim of white supremacy (racism) I should not like myself if I'm not trying not to be a victim of white supremacy (racism). Everything I say and/or do that is in cooperation with the white supremacists (racists) is the part of me I need to change. Some things I will not be able to change because I need to eat, clothe, and house myself while under this unjust SYSTEM.
I will need to shed myself of this insecurity and I may be able to do it by shedding myself of everyone I consider a friend. I may be able to do this by redefining what the word friend means...such that I have none and I am not lying to myself.
Experiment:
Questions to ask myself:
(1) Are you a white person?
(2) What is a friend?
(3) Do I like it when all people like me or more so when white people like me.?
(4) Why do I smile and joke with white people who may be mistreating me on the basis of color?
(5) What am I learning about the SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism) when I smile and joke with white people who may be mistreating me on the basis of color?
(6) Am I a victim of white supremacy (racism) only when I smile and joke with white people who may be mistreating me on the basis of color?
(7) Do all non-white people feel the same way?
(8) Why do you, as a non-white person, meaning not white, smile and joke with white people who may be mistreating me on the basis of color?
(9) What is comfort?
(10) What is justice?
(11) Am I confusing comfort with justice or justice with comfort?
(12) Am I cooperating with the white supremacists (racists) if I am not using speech and/or action to replace white supremacy (racism) with justice all the time?
(13) Should I feel comfortable when attempting to replace white supremacy (racism) with justice?
(14) Should the white person feel comfortable when I attempt to replace white supremacy (racism) with justice?
(15) When I smile and joke with white people am I thinking about replacing white supremacy (racism) with justice?
(16) If I feel comfortable being a victim of white supremacy (racism) will attempting to replace white supremacy (racism) with justice make me uncomfortable?
(17) Am I alone in this world?
(18) Was I born with any other person?
(19) Will I die with any other person?
(20) Will any other person go where I go when I die?
(21) Did my last question indicate my willingness to cling to other people?
(22) Am I alone in this world?
(23) Will anyone help me to counter racism (white supremacy)?
(22) Can I count on non-white people to help me counter racism (white supremacy)
(22) Did my last question indicate my willingness to cling to other people?
(22) Am I alone in this world?
(23) Do I just want to be liked?
(24) Am I alone in this world?
(25) Who can I count on to help me replace white supremacy (racism) with justice?
(26) What can I count on to help me replace white supremacy (racism) with justice?
(27) Who can I count on to help me replace white supremacy (racism) with justice?
(28) Are victims of white supremacy (racism) supposed to smile and joke with white people under the SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism)?
(29) Do white people encourage me to not smile and joke with them or do they encourage me to smile and joke with them when I interact with them?
(30) Who am I trying to please by smiling and joking with white people when I interact with them...them or me?
(31) What is the purpose for a victim of white supremacy (racism) to smile and joke with a racist suspect under a SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism)?
(32) Why do I smile and joke with a racist suspect under a SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism)?
(33) Why shouldn't I smile and joke with a racist suspect under a SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism)?
(34) Who is functioning from a position of POWER when I interact with a white person in a SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism) and I am smiling and joking with the white person I'm talking to?
(35) Who is functioning from a position of POWERLESSNESS when I interact with a white person in a SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism) and I am smiling and joking with the white person I'm talking to?
Results:
I have concluded that after numerous interactions with white people and questions asked of me about those interactions the following is the result of me not lying to myself:
(1) I am not a white person.
(2) I was born into this world alone and will most likely die alone.
(3) I have also concluded that a friend to me is someone who will die for me and I will die for.
(4) I have concluded that me interacting with white people and by smiling, laughing, joking, cooning, etc. I am only helping white people to maintain and/or refine the SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism) by making white people comfortable with me. Henceforth I will maintain my focus by being serious and not laughing and joking with white people about anything.
(5) I have concluded that I must approach replacing white supremacy (racism) from the perspective of being a scientist and it doesn't matter how I feel about the work I am doing because scientifically speaking it should be done.
(6) I have concluded that there is no one that I can count on to help me counter racism (white supremacy).
(7) I have concluded no person should feel good about replacing white supremacy (racism) with justice because we have all been conditioned to feel good and want to feel good under the SYSTEM of white supremacy (racism).
(8) I have concluded I should only interact with people I suspect I can learn from.
(9) I have concluded that the POWERFUL people on this planet are people functioning as white people and white people functioning as white supremacists (racists), and the POWERLESS people on this planet are people who function as non-white people. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE?

This experiment and the questions you asked and answered were quite informative and helpful to me. Why did you ask yourself "Am I alone in this world?" 4 times ?

Because I didn't want to believe that I was. The scientific approach to countering racism (white supremacy) has helped me function outside of my beliefs. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |

Also you may feel more comfortable when you are smiling and joking with them because white people feel more comfortable with black people who smile and joke and therefore if they are comfortable, that in turn makes you feel more at ease. I've often commented on how 'important' it is to smile when interacting with white people - they're really tense round black people who don't smile. I grew up in an extremely racist part of the UK and can remember as an adolescent constantly being told to smile by white adults - I even remember once when I was walking down a street and a carload of men stopped and they shouted at me, 'smile' - so there you go! |

15 years passed, have your thoughts changed? Making white people feel comfortable is a result of brain trashing and also another way we are taught to protect the feelings of white people. Have you done any more experiments on this? |

I think you missed the point of the experiment. The point was to "true-up" my focus to produce justice.
I wrote this experiment in 2001, which was 19 years ago. Before I wrote it I was already refocusing. Writing it and running it only formalized my intentions and helped, as a guide, to ensure I was being truthful with myself.
Being truthful with oneself is the most difficult part of any undertaking. It didn't take long, once formalizing a method for being truthful with myself and using it, for me to be able to laugh and talk with anyone and still have razor sharp focus on producing justice. The laughing always comes to a screeching halt for them. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |
