The character of Iago reminds me of Ashcroft or anyone who looks so nice and innocent. Shakespeare didn't make Iago shifty-eyed and suspicious-looking -- he made him handsome and innocent looking and honest looking.
And Othello is suspected of bad things because he is "the Moor" - dark.
That's a great suggestion to read or watch, thanks - I'll go find it again and read it with a deeper understanding than I did in college.
And the movie review will help in seeing all the meanings from a WS/R perspective.
