Respect: To not mistreat.

The definition of respect on page one includes the definition you've outlined but it begins with self. That is the most important part. Each person that wants respect gives it to him or herself. Once the person has respect (self-respect) other people will not think the person is not respecting them because the person who has respect (self-respect) will not exhibit any behavior that other people perceive as being "dis-respectful".

I agree.

When I hear other people use the word respect, this is how I interpret it.

Self-Respect: Pronunciation Key

The refusal to lie to oneself and letting other's know of that refusal to lie to yourself.

One thing non-white people must understand is that when you commit not to lie to yourself you'll immediately become uncomfortable...because in a SYSTEM of racism (white supremacy) we have all become comfortable with deception and lies. Also, when you commit to letting all others know you will not lie to yourself you begin to make all other people uncomfortable.

Get that? You will not lie to yourself...you're making other people uncomfortable. I'm not talking about not lying to them...I'm talking about you not lying to you...that makes other people uncomfortable.

It is going to happen in this SYSTEM. White people who practice racism (white supremacy) lie to non-white people and have non-white people lying to themselves.

Fine

The interesting thing about words is that words are used to define words. People use words to defibne words in such a manner that the word and/or its use gives a person a sense of what is meant by the word's definition.

If you never get to exactly what a word is and exactly what the use of a word does you'll never know exactly what the result is of the use of the word as it is defined. You'll only have a "sense" of what is meant by the person using the word.

When is a "noun", whatever that means, not functional?
